Be A 9th Wonder is comprised of a group of volunteers and partners that helps kids implore a lifestyle of accountability, resilience, hope, perseverance and physical activity through basketball. Founder, Remi Yusuf, and his team assists to re-direct at risk individuals by giving them an alternative to what they have currently experienced by showing today’s youth that they have value regardless of their circumstances. Originated from Houston, Texas, Remi returns to his second home, Australia, to coach and mentor children of all ages through his ‘BECOMING WONDER WOMAN’ clinic with special guest speakers, JJ Simmons (USA), Melissa Yu (AUS) and basketball coach, Marcus Adams (AUS). This program for this school holiday season centers around young women within the community.

The one-day or two-day young women’s basketball and mental health program will allow girls between 7-16 years of age to explore their own stories on and off the courts. The coaches will walk through what it takes physically, emotionally and mentally to win games in basketball but more importantly, to be ready for what life brings as we grow up in this world. Split into two or three groups of theory and practical work, students will learn intensive skills training, offense and defense practices, discuss mindset and self-care strategies and meet new friends! Students will share lunch together and return home feeling more confident, re-assured and hopeful for the future.
