The "Queens of the Court Showcase Career and College Readiness Showcase" is a unique opportunity for you to demonstrate your skills in front of some of the most esteemed college coaches from across the United States. This event is designed not only to provide a platform for your talent to be seen but also to educate you on what it takes to succeed at the college level in basketball and beyond. For this event, we are considering Class of 25, 26, and 27.

Event Highlights:

  1. Exposure to College Coaches:

    • This is your chance to showcase your abilities in front of college scouts and coaches who are actively seeking new talent. You will have the opportunity to gain valuable exposure and potentially secure a spot on a college basketball team.

  2. Skill Development:

    • Engage in on-court skill development sessions led by experienced coaches and trainers. These sessions are designed to help you refine your techniques and enhance your overall performance.

  3. Educational Panels:

    • Participate in Q&A sessions with coaches and professionals who will provide insights into what it takes to play college basketball. You’ll learn about the recruitment process, the academic and athletic demands of college life, and strategies for achieving success on and off the court.

  4. Team Assignments and Competitions:

    • Compete in organized games and scrimmages to demonstrate your teamwork, strategy, and competitive spirit. This is a chance to put your training into practice and stand out among your peers.

  5. Networking Opportunities:

    • Connect with fellow players, coaches, and professionals in the basketball community. Building relationships within this network can open doors for future opportunities and collaborations.

Meet the Directors

  • Remi Yusuf

    HOUSTON

    is an ex-professional basketball player who is the founder of Be A 9th Wonder Foundation. He has a passion for youth and young adults and created an organization that helps propel individuals into their future by using sports as a preventative method to help produce a Foundation in their lives. "9th Wonder is a not-for-profit organization that is based in the US and also Australia.

  • Mike Torres

    MELBOURNE

    is the founder and director of Players First Academy, played at Miami Dade College (2006-2008) and served in the U.S. Navy (2008-2012). He played for the BigV Men's team (2014-2017) and coached the Coburg Giants (2017-2021), Basketball Victoria High Performance (2017-2022), and various Vic Metro Boys teams. Recently, he was the head coach for Diamond Valley Youth League Men's team (2021-2023).

  • Dean Marais

    GOLD COAST

    Is the founder of the organization "Hoops GC". Their purpose is to build resilience and teach life skills through basketball, and offer players the opportunity to train in a supportive learning environment with experienced, hardworking, and caring role models.

  • Emily Attard

    MELBOURNE

    is the Victorian Ivor Burge Head Coach as well as apart of the Victoria State Development Program. She also been part of the training camps for the Australian Pearls and runs her own business in disability sport including basketball and wheelchair basketball.

  • Brian Kerle

    BRISBANE

    is a 2x Olympian, NBL Champion, and NBL Hall of Fame inductee. He founded Brian Kerle Basketball, where experienced coaches build self-belief, athletic ability, and a winning team culture. They provide a strong foundation in basketball skills by mastering game fundamentals and tailoring coaching to each player's unique personality and abilities. Committed to educating, upskilling, motivating, and supporting players, they help students reach their potential and live healthy lifestyles while enjoying basketball.

  • Mike Fortune

    MELBOURNE

    From 2021 to 2024, Mike served as the NBL1 Women’s Assistant and Skill Development Coach at the Diamond Valley Basketball Association, where he also led the VJBL program and provided welfare support. Concurrently, he was the Head Coach at Coburg High School Academy from 2020 to 2024.

*Please note that this event is by invitation only to ensure a personalized and exclusive experience for our guests. We are limiting the event to 30 participants to maintain this intimate setting.

If you are interested in participating and have not received an invitation, please feel free to reach out to us. Each player will be required to provide their height, position, graduating class, and recent highlight film of themselves (no older than 12 months) that doesn't exceed 3 minutes in time frame. Details will be evaluated by our staff and a decision will be made. Inquires will be evaluated in the order that they are received.

At Be A 9th Wonder, we believe that everyone is different but equal and we are an all inclusive organization. We want every child to experience what we have to offer. We host national and international basketball clinics for Autistic and Special Needs children who enjoy the game of basketball and have the desire to get better. Our clinics are structured the same way as our normal clinics but will consist of more volunteers.

*Our organization functions strictly through donations and is completely FREE for kids that are attending*
